National Aquatic Centre: Brisbane 2032 Build-up
Centenary Pool, Spring Hill
The heritage-listed Centenary Pool site in Spring Hill, opened in 1959 and heritage-listed in 1996, is being turned into the National Aquatic Centre: in the Queensland Government’s words, Australia’s new swimming centrepiece, with a main and a secondary arena.
What’s happening
Centenary Pool closed to the public at the end of August 2026, and GIICA took over the Spring Hill side of Victoria Park, the pool included, on 1 September 2026 to prepare the site. Construction is due to start in 2027.
